MARGARITO Angana and Noel Norada will try to bring the first batch of gold medals for the Philippines as the 2013 Southeast Asian Games wrestling competitions unfurl on Monday in Yangoon.
Angana, a back-to-back gold medalist in the SEA Games, looks to deliver in the men’s 55kg Greco Roman event while Norada will also look to make waves in the men’s 60kg division.
Angana will have to beat all four of his opponents in the round-robin format competition to take the gold.
Norada, meanwhile, has a tougher task as he must beat all his three opponents from Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia in his bracket in order to reach the finals against the winner of the other group composed of three wrestlers from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.
Jason Balabal, the country's flag-bearer in the opening ceremonies on December, will also be competing in the next few days.
