IT'S A SAD DAY for Filipino wrestling fans as one of the local promotions, the Manila Wrestling Federation will now close its doors.
The announcements were made on the federation's official Facebook page.
Initially they revealed some of the root causes for the promotion's closure, where they highlighted the cancellation of the production of their shows.
"We regret to inform everyone that our production company, TBT Multimedia Production, has decided to cancel the production of MWF Republika 2024, which was scheduled be held on June 9, 2024 at the UP Film Institute in the University of the Philippines Diliman."
And due to the cancellation of their shows, refunds will be given to those who purchased rickets for MWF Republika.
"Our company will be handling the refunds to all ticket buyers (who bought tickets specifically for MWF Republika 2024). For inquiries, clarifications and if there’s any change of information outside of what you have provided to the ticket processing website, please contact us at tbtmediaent@gmail.com."
Closing the doors
Eventually the headlines were already revealed, where the MWF officially closed their curtains.
"Moreover, we are also closing the Manila Wrestling Federation as a brand, canceling all MWF-branded live events and productions this year and beyond. The last fresh episode of our weekly program “MWF Aksyonovela TV” – the 4th episode of MWF Kasaysayan 2024 – will air next week and will be shared in this social media account, which will be the last set of activities affiliated with and approved by us."
They added: "All resources, including but not limited to the MWF wrestling ring, the MWF Championship belts, assets and equipment owned by us or our associate Miggy Hilario, are no longer available for use by any other party unless authorized by us and/or the equipment’s owners."
As they went on, the federation highlighted that there are no new endeavors ahead.
"We also would like to announce that TBT Multimedia Production does not plan on forming any new professional wrestling promotion or produce any professional wrestling event. We are also not planning on being involved in professional wrestling individually in the foreseeable future. Should other parties continue to start their new professional wrestling-related endeavors, we shall not be involved with and affiliated with them."
In the end, they remained grateful for all the memories.
"Over the years, we have strived to create a professional wrestling company centered on Filipino talent and artistry. We have achieved so much through your help and support for us. For that, we will forever be grateful. Thank you for allowing us to entertain you."
"We will carry our MWF memories in our hearts as long as we live. We intend this post as the closure of MWF, as unfortunate the circumstances may be."
