ONE OF THE biggest free agents in professional wrestling has entered the WWE scene, interfering in the opening match of Backlash 2025.
Jeff Cobb, an American wrestler with Filipino roots, suddenly emerged and made a statement in the Fatal Four-Way Match for the United States title. Cobb's appearance propelled Jacob Fatu's victory allowing him to retain the US title over LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest.
Prior to his appearance in Backlash, there were hints that Cobb could end up joining the WWE. He posted a Tweet saying, 'Then, Now, and Forever' a iconic phrase that the promotion uses.
Throughout his career Cobb has forged a legacy in other wrestling promotions, most notably in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He even traveled to the Philippines where he made an appearance in Red Ollero's wrestling promotion, Filipino Pro Wrestling (FPW) last year.
Inside the FPW ring, Cobb defeated "The Walking Death" Mike Madrigal to secure the FPW championship. He even carried the belt to New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 19.
Jeff Cobb to join the Bloodline?
During the match, Cobb had a staredown with Fatu and Solo Sikoa, which could suggest that WWE's newest star could end up joining one of the most iconic factions in wrestling, The Bloodline.
Right after his victory in Backlash 2025, Fatu shared his thoughts on Cobb's arrival, hinting some plans they have.
"There's nothing I can explain, there's nothing I can say even if I wanted to. So at the end of the day we're still trying to figure everything out."
