MICHAEL Christian Martinez turned heads when he became the lone athlete from the Philippines to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Now, the 20-year old Filipino Olympian who captured the hearts of his countrymen and the world by being the first skater from Southeast Asia and a tropical country to qualify for the Olympics, has caused a stir online with his recent photos showing his buffer physique. 

Martinez posted several photos on his personal Instagram account showing his muscled up body. But it comes as no surprise as Martinez has vowed to become stronger to reduce the amount of injuries he sustains during training. Getting fitter and stronger also helps him improve his program by allowing him to perform more routines on the ice.

“Embrace the change,” Martinez wrote in a caption of one of his posts. Check out his scrawny to brawny transformation below:
