KRISTEL Macrohon sustained the Philippines’ medal-winning ways in the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships, taking two bronzes on Thursday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Macrohon placed third in the clean and jerk of the women’s 76-kilogram division with a lift of 126 kilograms. Her total lift of 225 kgs was good for another bronze for the Filipina weightlifters in the competition.
The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist missed out on another bronze in the snatch after chalking 99 kilograms, one short of Korean Kang Yeounhee.
Zhang Wangli of China swept the golds with a 115 in the snatch and a 148 in the clean and jerk for a 263-kilogram total.
Kim Suhyeon of Korea placed second with 106 in the snatch and a 138 in the clean and jerk for a 244-kilogram total.
The Philippines won two gold medals on Wednesday courtesy of Vanessa Sarno in the competition that also saw Hidilyn Diaz formally qualifying in the Olympics following her sixth competition during the qualifiers.
