“She is going back to Malaysia, September 20, may balak na silang bumalik sa Malaysia para talagang training for the World Championship in November in Peru. Gusto nilang mag-medalya doon,” said Puentevella during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.
The 30-year-old Diaz trained in Malaysia for nearly two years in her preparation for the Olympics. It bore fruit as she won for the Philippines its first gold medal after a 97-year wait, copping the women’s 55 kilogram category in Tokyo.
Diaz is also out to surpass her bronze medals in the clean and jerk and total during the last staging of the World Championship in 2019 in Pattaya, Thailand.
