Hidilyn Diaz makes up for SEA Games absence by bagging gold in 1st Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championship

Olympian Hidilyn Diaz gave the country a gold in the 1st Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championship in Bangkok.

HIDILYN Diaz won a gold medal in the 1st Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championship in Bangkok.

The 2008 Beijing Olympian lifted 98kg in the snatch and 115kg in the clean and jerk for a 213 kg total to capture the gold in the women’s 53kg division.

Diaz recently dropped in weight from 58kg to 53kg for the event, held after weightlifting was not included in the calendar of sports in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

Asian Games campaigner Nestor Colonia won a bronze medal in the men’s 56kg. of the same meet.
