HIDILYN Diaz captured the silver medal in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games women's weightlifting competitions in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

In her first event since the Rio De Janeiro Olympics, Diaz registered 204 kilograms to finish four kilos short of China's Liao Qiuyun of China for the gold medal.

After lifting 90 kilos in the snatch, Diaz took the lead during the final lift when she tallied 114. But Liao, already with 93 in the snatch, lifted 115 kilos on the second try to win the gold for China.

Prior to the AIMAG, Diaz was targeting 95 kilos in the snatch and 120 kilos in the clean and jerk but nevertheless won a silver despite not meeting her target.

Diaz joined other early medalists in the AIMAG led by gold winners Meggie Ochoa and Annie Ramirez of jiu-jitsu.
