JUST a day ago, Filipinos around the world experienced a 'Where were you when it happened...' moment when the Filipinas, riding a golden Sarina Bolden goal, beat co-host New Zealand for the country's first-ever victory in a World Cup.
In the din of the celebration, coach Alen Stajcic declared the Filipinas' breakthrough win "would have to be the best achievement in the history of the country" by the Philippines in team sports - bar none.
Hard to argue with that.

Incidentally, exactly two years ago today another monumental achievement was done by a Filipina when Hidilyn Diaz took the Olympic gold medal in the 55kg division in weightlifting in a thrilling face-off against world champion Liao Qiuyun.
That singular accomplishment by the 30-year old lifter from Zamboanga ended the country's 97-year wait for an Olympic gold and cheered up a grateful nation still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
That gold served was the crowning glory of the most successful Olympic campaign ever by a Philippine team, which also got pair of silver medals from boxers Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio and a bronze from Eumir Marcial.
Truly one for the ages. Let's relive that moment when the Philippine national anthem Lupang Hinirang was played in the Olympics for the very first time.
