ELREEN Ando and Rosegie Ramos claimed medals in the first few days of the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Ando claimed the silver medal in the clean and jerk and total in the women’s 59kg division while Ramos got a silver in the snatch and bronze in the total of the women’s 49kg weight class.
Ando lifts
Ando had a lift of 120kg in the clean and jerk, and her fifth-place finish in the snatch after registering 93kg, didn’t stop her from grabbing another silver in the total after a 213.
Kim Il Gyong of North Korea wound up with the gold in all events following a total of 225.
Ramos lifted 88kg in the snatch for second place, and was sixth in the clean and jerk at 102kg to take the podium finish in the total with 190kg, just a kilogram behind silver medalist Rira Suzuki of Japan.
Ri Song Gum of North Korea set world records in the 49kg with lifts of 95 and 125 for a 220kg total.
