THE Philippine women's volleyball team came up with something to celebrate near the end of its 17-day training camp in Japan in scoring their second straight win at the expense of Osaka Superiors, 25-21, 28-26, 25-19, on Monday.

What pleased head coach Francis Vicente the most is the improvement in the team's chemistry following their win over Kobe Shinwa Women's University on Saturday, with the group of star players embracing their roles.

"It's good that this collection of superstars is now working as one team,” said Vicente, whose team is down to their last day of training camp before they leave on Wednesday.

“Their respective roles are now getting more defined and the chemistry is slowly being developed. This camp helps us a lot in harnessing our friendship and unity on and off the court,” he added.

Jaja Santiago had 14 points, from 10 kills, three blocks and a service ace, while Jovelyn Gonzaga added nine markers, from six kills and three aces.

The team will arrive on Wednesday via Philippine Airlines flight 407 before another round of grueling training to gear up for the AVC Asian Senior Women's Championship on August 9-17 and the Southeast Asian Games on August 19-31.
