COMING from their 17-day training in Japan, the Philippine women’s volleyball team will be housed together to maintain focus and improve the players’ chemistry some more before the AVC Asian Senior Women's Championship on August 9-17.

The team will arrive on Wednesday and will stay at Orchid Hotel in Manila starting August 4 before moving to Crimson Hotel in Alabang, the official accommodation of the Asian Seniors on August 7.

Head coach Francis Vicente stressed that he wants the team to focus on its task of making it to the top 8 of the tournament as the team is now nearing the final and most crucial stage of their preparation.

"There will be no rest for us after this camp," he said. "As soon as we arrive at the airport, we'll go home, get some stuff and, maybe, kiss our family goodbye then we'll be off to another round of training."

"We will house the players together to make sure that they will be in proper mindset as we approach the Asian Seniors," he added.

There will be a twice-a-day training and tune-up games at the Arellano University gym on August 4-7.

Vicente also plans to reshuffle the team's room assignments to help the players know each other better.

"This is a long-term program. This team is designed to stay together for the next three years," he said. "So it is very important for them to develop personal friendship and camaraderie with their teammates and treat each other as sisters on and off the court."

Although the women's volleyball competition of the SEA Games starts on August 21, the RP team will attend the opening ceremonies on August 18.
