SHORTLY after winning her first PVL title over a week ago, Brooke Van Sickle now has her sights set on suiting up for Alas Pilipinas after Petro Gazz bowed out of the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.

There’s still a cloud of uncertainty, however, hanging on her and newly-crowned PVL Finals MVP MJ Phillips’ heads, as the waiting game on their national federation shifts continues.

For the Fil-American MVP duo, their hope for now is to move forward with their oncoming Alas call-up, this time with more answers than questions.

“I haven't heard any updates yet. I know that MJ and my paperwork have already been processed, so now we're just kind of waiting for the next step, I guess,” Van Sickle said.

“We're waiting patiently and hoping. If we could represent the Philippines, that would be awesome. It’s an honorable thing, and also it's a great opportunity.”

BVS and MJ, both still affiliated with USA Volleyball, were included in the 33-woman wishlist released by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) on the potential names they’ll be considering for the 2025 national team calendar.

While their status with Alas is still a toss-up, carrying the most weight for BVS at this point is the mere opportunity to even interact and play with some of the country’s finest talents.

“Just to even network and meet all the girls would be super cool. It's just kind of play it day by day. If we get an update and it goes well, then for sure, we'll represent,” BVS said.

"As of right now, we have no idea. It's kind of up in the air. But even if we don't end up playing all of us, then best of luck to the girls. I hope they stay healthy, and they're going to do phenomenal. I'm really excited to watch them or even join them. I'm really stoked.”
