DESPITE their impressive run in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference, University of Santo Tomas head coach Kungfu Reyes still won’t call his team ‘UAAP-ready.’

UST initially planned to use the conference as a test to determine who will suit up for the upcoming UAAP Season 79 volleyball tournament early next year.

But the Tigresses took the league by surprise, sweeping the first half of the conference and moving on to the semifinals as the only all-Filipina team in an import-laden tournament. Still, Reyes played down the praise his wards have been receiving as he bared that he hasn’t made up his mind on who will make the roster for the UAAP yet.

“It’s too early to say na UAAP-ready agad, kasi ibang usapan naman yung UAAP. At least, makikita mo na yung prospect kung sino yung papasok sa magic 14,” Reyes said.

“That’s the intention naman kaya kami nandito sa conference,” he added.

The veteran mentor also said nobody in his team is assured of making it to the UAAP lineup, even as he hinted that most of those who will make the cut will come from the V-League roster.

“Malamang sa malamang sila yung (papasok), (pero) may mga nakatago pa kami dun sa Team B namin, pero mostly dito mangagaling yung line-up,” Reyes said.

Now awaiting on who between BaliPure and Customs will they play for third-place, Reyes eyes a strong finish to their V-League campaign.

“Bahala na sila dun, basta kami maghihintay muna, magpapahinga din muna yung players. Basta tatapusin namin yung liga ng maayos,” he added.
