UNIVERSITY of Batangas fought back from a set down to score its first victory in the V-League, while keeping Polytechnic University of the Philippines winless, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 28-26, on Sunday in the Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Krissa Madalogdog led the way with 18 points, while Cyren Montecer added 16 as the Lady Brahmans ended the elimination round with a 1-4 record.

Kimberly Jamilla added nine points and Lalyn Garcia contributed eight as UB took the win in almost two hours.

“Masaya kasi unang panalo namin ito,” said UB coach Ahmed Aylion. “Napakalaking factor para samin itong V-League, mas matatag na ang mga bata.”

Aylion said their experience in the tournament will boost their confidence for the NCAA South, their mother league.

“Itong experience namin dito dadalhin namin sa NCAA South kung saan champion kami,” he said.

It was a close contest in blocking, 8-6, and points from the service line, 6-7, but UB earned 40 points from PUP’s errors.

PUP’s Syra Jane Romo led all scorers with 26 points, while guest player Lourdes Clemente added 23.
