BALIPURE completed the semis cast after it denied Laoag, 25-21, 26-24, 25-13, in the Shakey's V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Wednesday.

The Purest Water defenders improved to a  4-1 win-loss record, tied with Open Conference champion Pocari Sweat, and joined University of Santo Tomas (5-1) and Bureau of Customs (4-2).

American import Kate Morrell finished with 21 points, built on 18 kills, for BaliPure, which extended its winning run to four and has yet to drop a set after losing to UST in their first assignment.

“That's good (we’re in the semis),” said BaliPure veteran Charo Soriano. “We're taking it one game at a time because our goal really is to keep on improving. We're very happy that we are in the semis already but we wanna focus on the rest of the games also in the elimination round.”

“It's a good morale booster for us kasi it means we're becoming more consistent and that's one of the things that we've been wanting to work on, consistency,” she added. “Because we would have sets that we would have five six points and then we'd lose two, three points so we wanna try to stop that and be more consistent because each and every point matters and I think we've been showing that and hopefully we'd be able to bring it the same consistency against Pocari Sweat (on Saturday).”

Amy Ahomiro made 14 points for the Purest Water Defenders, while American setter Kaylee Manns added 13.

Morrell took charge for the Purest Water Defenders in the second set as she scored back-to-back kills to pull away from a tied, 24-24, contest and win the set.

Jorelle Singh and Grethcel Soltones carried Laoag with 16 and 11 points, respectively, for Laoag. The Power Smashers dropped to 2-5.
