POCARI Sweat recovered from a slow start to sink Philippine Coast Guard, 25-17, 25-9, 25-16, in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Monday.

Michele Gumabao led the way with 14 points for the Lady Warriors, while American imports Andrea Kacsits and Bre Mackie chipped in 10 markers apiece.

"Sluggish start but the good thing is that the girls were able to regain their composure and win this very important game for us," said Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella, who was not fully satisfied with the victory.

“Well, I guess ‘yung communication namin and jelling of the team is not yet there,” he added.

The Lady Warriors, who struggled at the start of every set, barged in the win column after they bowed to an all-Filipino Air Force team in five sets.

The Open Conference champion, which trailed 0-6 at the start of the first set, improved to 1-1 tied with Philippine Air Force and Laoag.

Pocari Sweat pounded PCG with 41 won attacks, while the Lady Dolphins only had 15 kills in the entire match that took an hour and 12 minutes to finish.

Grenlen Malapit made seven points for PCG, which dropped to 0-4.
