REGINE Arocha and Jovielyn Prado took charge in thrilling finish as the Power Smashers stunned Creamline 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-13 to stop a two-game skid in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan on Tuesday.

Arocha and Prado led a stirring fifth set comeback for the Power Smashers from a three-point deficit early in the decider and took a 13-11 lead. Alyssa Valdez scored for Creamline on the next play only to give match point to the Power Smashers on a service error.

Valdez gave the Creamline some hope with one last hit to get the Cool Smashers within two, 14-12, but got blocked on the next play to seal the win for the Power Smashers.

The Power Smashers got off to a solid start and took the first set. But Creamline bounced back strong to build a 13-point lead. Arocha helped cut the gap to three before an error gave the second set to the Cool Smashers.

The Power Smashers, however, pulled away midway through the third to take a 10-point advantage and eventually claimed the set on a Kath Villegas hit.

Prado then rallied the Power Smashers back from an early fourth set deficit before Francesca Racracquin scored on two consecutive service aces to force a decider.

Arocha led the Power Smashers, now with a 2-2 record, with 18 points on 11 attacks.

The Cool Smashers dropped to 1-2.
