Pocari Sweat turns to American pair to put away Petro Gazz in PVL

POCARI Sweat-Air Force turned back Petro Gazz, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21, in the round-robin quarterfinals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

American imports Arielle Love and Medeline Palmer led the Lady Warriors, who joined BanKo Perlas and BaliPure-NU among the early winners in the second round.

Love led the way in scoring with 23 points, from 19 attacks, three blocks and one service ace, while Palmer was impressive both on offense and defense with 15 markers, nine digs and 12 excellent receptions.

Pocari Sweat skipper and national team hopeful Myla Pablo also provided 18 points in the match that took almost two hours to finish.

Olena Lymareva-Flink had 22 points and 11 excellent receptions for Petro Gazz, while Anastasiia Trach added 16.

The Angels are at the lower half of the six-team standings, tied with Tacloban and Iriga-Navy.
