PLDT scored a quick three-set win over Philippine Air Force on Sunday to claim third place in the Shakey's V-League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.

The Power Attackers won, 25-18, 25-23, 25-15, enough to win the scheduled best-of-three series for third cut short to two matches.

Air Force won the series opener in four sets, which meant the series was even. But third place was decided by quotient of the two matches because Army later completed a sweep of the finals against Cagayan Valley.

Dindin Santiago scored 19 and Lou Ann Latigay added 11 for PLDT, which took the match in an hour and 22 minutes.

“Goal talaga namin na three sets lang,” said Power Attackers team captain Sue Roces.

PLDT had more blocks (10-7) and digs (45-34).

Despite the loss, substitute Air Force coach Jessie Lopez, who took over just a week ago, was proud of the team’s performance.

No one from the Air Women scored in double digits, with Maika Ortiz and Jocemer Tapic each finishing with nine points.
