Focus on Army's Gonzaga, Meralco's Legacion as a handful of top players questionable for start of V-League semis

FORMER MVPs Jovelyn Gonzaga and Nene Bautista look to show the way for Army, while top setter and receiver Angelica Legacion and Jennylyn Reyes try to carry Meralco as the Lady Troopers and Power Spikers clash at the start of the single-round semifinals of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

The match starts at 12 p.m. and several players are questionable with the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino final set at 4:15 p.m. at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

Lady Troopers top hitters Rachel Anne Daquis and Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Meralco’s Aby Marano, Cha Cruz, Paneng Mercado, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, Maica Morada and libero Jen Reyes are expected to see action for their PSL teams.

Daquis, Santiago-Manabat, Marano, Cainglet-Cayetano and Reyes are playing for Petron, while Cruz and Mercado on the Shopinas side in the PSL final.

Cagayan Valley and PLDT Home Ultera, meanwhile, have full squads for the 2 p.m. match.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Wenneth Eulalio and Rosemarie Vargas lead the Lady Rising Suns against the Ultra Fast Hitters featuring Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago and Sue Roces.
