La Salle Lady Spikers returning to Shakey's V-League after seven-year absence

LA Salle returns to the V-League after a seven-year absence, battling 11 other teams in the pioneering volleyball league's Collegiate Conference starting on July 4.

Winners of three straight conferences from the First Conference of Season 2, the Lady Spikers return to battle familiar rivals in UAAP back-to-back champion Ateneo, University of Santo Tomas, National University, Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines.

Also seeing action are NCAA titlist Arellano University, San Sebastian, Colege of St. Benilde, De La Salle-Dasmarinas, National College of Business Administration and a team from Batangas.

Organizers have yet to release the team lineups. The teams battle in a single round robin eliminations with the top four squads advancing to the semifinals.

“We are confident that the Collegiate Conference will be as successful as the Open,” said Sports Vision president Ricky Palou on Tuesday during the PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate.

Matches will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.

Meanwhile, the Spikers’ Turf will also feature 12 teams led by UAAP men’s champion Ateneo, La Salle, UST, NU, Adamson and FEU.

Also fielding teams are NCAA titlist Emilio Aguinaldo College, Perpetual, SSC, Rizal Technlogical University, CSB and La Salle-Dasmarinas.

Spikers’ Turf matches are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays.
