UNIVERSITY of the Philippines finally scored a victory after two losses, downing winless Baguio, 21-25, 27-25, 25-14, 25-13, on Wednesday in the V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Justine Dorog scored 13 points for UP, Isa Molde and Nicole Tiamzon each had 11 markers, while Diana Carlos added 10 for the Lady Maroons.

"Sa first two games namin vacation mode pa ang team sorry to say, 'yun na lang, andyan naman, half the effort andyan," admitted UP coach Gerry Yee.

"What we talked about what we tried to do, 'di buo effort, nakaka frustrate," he added. "Tapos eto, mukhang gusto pa namin ipatalo ang game then na realize nila kailangan na bumawi."

Yee added it was not all due to lack of effort because the Lady Maroons are need to focus on school.

"'Di kami nakakapagpractice ng tuluy-tuloy, 'di rin buo mag-practice, exams dito exam dun," he said. "In a day may nag te-text na absent sila then 'yung announcement ng exams bigla-bigla so 'di rin na pa-plan, sa practices laru-laro, effort 'di rin kumpleto."

"Kakatapos lang ng iba sa exams, June na nag-e-exam pa," he added.

Maria Tsuchiya finished with 13 points, while Carmela Dicksen added 13 for Baguio, winless in three matches.
