LAOAG got back on the winning track and handed Air Force its first loss of the conference, 25-14, 25-23, 25-23, on Saturday in the V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Jovielyn Prado led the way for the Power Smashers with 19 points, with 18 spikes, while Adamson ace spiker Jessica Galanza added 12 points as Laoag evened its win-loss record, 2-2.

Prado and fellow Arellano player Jan Galang rejoined Laoag after missing its past two matches as they saw action in the intercollegiate tournament in Baguio.

“Mas naging matibay kasi ‘yung depensa namin na nandyan ‘yung dalawa,” said Laoag coach Nes Pamilar.

Laoag also capitalized on the absence of the 6-foot-3 Air Force spiker Dell Palomata.

“Naka-mindset sila na andoon ‘yung ano matangkad pero mas advantage tayo ngayon na ’yung best player nila na naglalaro for three games wala ngayon so magiging advantage tayo kasi nakahanda tayo.”

Joy Cases scored 12 points for Air Force, which now holds a 3-1 win-loss record.
