ARMY held Coast Guard to a low 33-hit total as it came away with a 25-8, 25-13, 25-12 romp on Thursday to nail the third semifinal berth in the Shakey's V-League Season 12-Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

The defending champion Lady Troopers disposed of the Lady Dolphins in just 59 minutes, notching their fifth win against a loss to tie the Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns in second spot behind PLDT (6-0).

Army coach Rico de Guzman went to his starters in the early going before trying out new combinations in the next two without giving the Dolphins an inch to ever pose a threat.

Last year’s MVP Jovelyn Gonzaga topscored with eight hits, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Carmina Aganon and Nerissa Bautista tossed in seven points apiece.

Rossan Fajardo matched Gonzaga’s output but the Coast Guard skipper failed to draw solid support.
