NOTHING compares than winning a championship for your family.

Jovelyn Gonzaga shed tears of joy after accepting the Finals MVP award following Philippine Army’s successful title romp in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference.

The Lady Troopers won a second league title as they downed deposed champion Cagayan Valley 25-14, 25-7, 25-23, in the title clinching Game Two of the best-of-three Finals at The Arena in San Juan Sunday.

Gonzaga said the tears were actually for her Philippine Army teammates, whom she considers as her family.

“Mixed emotions kasi hindi ko alam ang mararamdaman ko pero sobrang tuwa,” she said.

“Ang team Army kasi family kami eh, at ang sarap sa feeling na mag-champion ka kasama ang pamilya mo.”

Gonzaga had 13 points for the newly-crowned champion along with Ging Balse and season MVP Rachel Anne Daquis.

After their success in the V-League, the Lady Troopers will try to defend their crown for the nth time in their mother league AFP Olympics, which starts on Tuesday.

Army has been dominating the AFP Olympics even before Rico de Guzman took over as head coach in 2008.
