Gretchel Soltones' teammates prove Lady Stags no longer a one-woman army
Gretchel Soltones has received a lot of help in SSC's V-League campaign.

BACK-TO-BACK NCAA MVP Gretchel Soltones is glad that she's no longer carrying much of the load for San Sebastian with teammates Denice Lim and Katherine Villegas stepping up to provide ample support in their Shakey's V-League Collegiate Conference campaign.

“Masaya kasi hindi na po ako ganoon kapagod ng sobra, and sa tulong din po iyon ni coach, yung pagmo-motivate nila sa amin bawat isa,” said Soltones, who averages 16 points per game for the Lady Stags.

Lim and Villegas have given the Lady Stags options offensively as both are averaging a steady 8.67 points in their three games.

Against Ateneo on Saturday, Soltones led the way with 16 but the Lady Stags also got 12 from Lim in their 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 win for a 2-1 win-loss slate in Group A.

“Parati naman po sinasabi ni coach Roger (Gorayeb), coach Clint (Malazo) dati pa nung NCAA, dati pa kasi ang pangit naman pakinggan sa TV na one-man team lang, syempre para din yun sa school,” said Soltones.

While things are looking well for San Sebastian, Soltones admits they still have a lot to work on and hopes to fix them before their main tournament in NCAA comes.

“Sa ngayon po, konti pa. Nandoon pa po kami sa 30 percent kasi may gusto pa makita si coach sa amin as a whole,” said Soltones.
