Tigresses turn back Lady Patriots, but UST coach very disappointed with four-set win
EJ Laure of University of Santo Tomas leads all scorers with 18 points. Czeasar Dancel

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas evened its record after dropping its opening match, downing De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, 25-13, 25-12, 23-25, 25-18, on Saturday in the V-League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

UAAP Rookie of the Year EJ Laure led the Tigresses with 18 points, skipper Pam Lastimosa scored 17 and and Mela Tunay added 16 points as UST bounced back after bowing to Ateneo in the opener.

A disappointed UST coach Kungfu Reyes said they did not need to play longer than three sets against DLS-D, winless in two matches..

"Dapat straight sets lang 'yun.  Ang masama pa, nasa dulo na kami noong nawalan kami ng communication," Reyes said.

The Tigresses allowed the Lady Patriots take a seven-point lead in the third set, 21-14, fought back to tie it at 21-21 before dropping it.

"Hindi convincing 'yung panalo namin, hindi kami kuntento doon," said Reyes. "Nanalo kami sa four sets pero ang sama talaga ng third set namin."

"Nakadikit nga kami pero natalo pa rin kami," he added.

Cherry Nunag and Iumi Yongco led the Lady Patriots with a combined 21 points.
