FAR Eastern University kept its slate unblemished and handed University of the Philippines its first loss, 27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-8, on Saturday in the Shakey's V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Tamaraws improved to 4-0 and will advance to the quarterfinals with a carryover record of 2-0. FEU’s wins over eliminated teams College of St. Benilde and San Beda College are not carried over.

FEU took an early 4-0 lead in the fifth and never looked back.

The Lady Maroons hold a 3-1 record but will have a carry over 1-1 record in the quarterfinals.

Toni Rose Basas led the way with 24 points, all on hits, while skipper Mary Palma added 15, Jerrili Malabanan chipped in 11 and Bernadeth Pons contributed 10 for FEU.

"Ang sabi ko lang sa players after the fourth set, kalimutan niyo na ang nangyari sa unang apat na sets bale wala na 'yun. Ang importante itong fifth set kasi dito natin malalaman kung nasaan na talaga ang team natin," said FEU coach Shaq de los Santos.

"Good thing naka-recover kami at nakuha namin ang panalo," he said.

Isa Molde and Diana Carlos each had 20 points for the Lady Maroons.

Justine Dorog had 14 markers and Nicole Tiamzon added 10 for UP.
