THE first-ever face-off between sisters Dindin and Jaja Santiago serves as a fitting backdrop in the showdown between powerhouse teams Philippine Army and PLDT Home Ultera in Sunday’s main game of the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Troopers and the Ultra Fast Hitters clash at 2:00 p.m., with all eyes expected to be on the Santiago siblings as they go up against each other for the first time in a game of this magnitude.

Dindin serves as guest player of Army, while Jaja is the other half of PLDT Home Ultera’s 1-2 punch along with UAAP back-to-back MVP Alyssa Valdez of Ateneo.

“Si Dindin ang pantapat namin sa PLDT lalo na kay Jaja,” admitted Army coach Rico de Guzman.

Both the Lady Troopers and the Ultra Fast Hitters carry identical a 1-0 slate after the disposing their separate opponents in their opening games.

Army bombed Fourbees-Perpetual Help away, 25-8, 25-10, 25-11, on Tuesday, while the PLDT trounced Baguio, 25-10, 25-16, 25-21, despite Valdez not suiting up.

Winner of the match will join idle Cagayan Valley (2-0) on top.

Meanwhile, Team Baguio aims to end a two-game slide as it seeks a first win against Meralco at 4 p.m.

The Summer Spikers are coming off a  straight-sets loss against Cagayan last Thursday, 11-25, 9-25, 11-25.

The Power Spikers on the other hand, just ended a winless run extending from last year’s Foreign Reinforced Conference after downing Philippine Navy, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Cha Cruz, Maica Morada, and Aby Marano are again expected to take the lead for Meralco, which is currently tied with Army and PLDT Home Ultera.
