Alyssa Valdez shows way as Creamline opens PVL campaign with four-set win over Adamson

CREAMLINE survived a late scare from college team Adamson, 25-17, 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, to kick off its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on a winning note on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Alyssa Valdez and newcomer Rosemarie Vargas poured in 18 points apiece for the Cool Smashers. Pau Soriano added 11 points while setter Jia Morado dished out all of the team’s 36 excellent sets.

“Nakakatuwa lang na from different schools, from different organizations isa ang nadadala nilang attitude and chemistry,” said Valdez, who brought in Morado during the offseason. Vargas and Ging Balse were their other additions.

“You really get to be inspired by these players,” she added. “Even is Ate Ging iba ang presence niya inside and outside of the court.” 

The Cool Smashers held a slim 21-20 lead in the fourth set before putting the Lady Falcons away by scoring the game's final five points.

Jema Galanza made 14 points for Adamson while Christine Joy Soyud added nine. May Roque had seven and Lea-Ann Perez chipped in six.

Meanwhile, King’s Montessori standouts Rizza Andrea Cruz had nine markers and Louie Romero made all of the team’s 34 excellent sets in a match that took an hour and 11 minutes to finish.
