ATENEO assistant coach Parley Tupaz said Alyssa Valdez will likely be out for a month, or until the end of the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference, as she takes a well-deserved break from volleyball.

Valdez did not play in the Lady Eagles opening game against University of Santo Tomas, watching from the bench wearing an Ateneo jersey and jeans as she takes a leave of absence as per the instructions of Ateneo's Thai coach Tai Bundit and her doctors.

The 22-year-old, however, did not mention how long she will sit out.

But Tupaz, who called the shots in Saturday's victory over the Tigresses as Bundit is still on vacation in Thailand, confirmed that it may take a month or more for Valdez before she is given the go-signal to suit up.

“(Si) Alyssa, baka one month wala pero pwedeng buong conference na (siya hindi makakalaro),” said Tupaz. “One or two months depende pa ‘yan kay coach Tai."

National team coach Roger Gorayeb also said Valdez will likely miss out on the Philippine team's stint in the VTV Invitational Women’s Volleyball Cup in Vietnam later this month.
