SCORING leader Alyssa Valdez and the Ateneo Lady Eagles try to keep their slate unblemished, while the Arellano Lady Chiefs look to move up from midtable and keep their semifinal chances alive as the UAAP and NCAA champions clash in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference quarterfinals on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Eagles scored a four-set win over the UP Lady Maroons last week to remain unscathed, while the Lady Chiefs will be looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking five-set loss to University of Santo Tomas.

The Lady Chiefs need the victory to put them back in the hunt for one of the slots in the rounf of four of the mid-season tournament of the league presented by PLDT Home Ultera.

Arellano is in fifth, with National U, Far Eastern U and UST tied for second at 3-1.

La Salle-Dasmariñas has a 1-3 card, while St. Benilde and UP have 0-4 records.

Focus will again be on Valdez and new scoring partner Jhoanna Maraguinot in the 3 p.m. match.

Valdez had 29 points and Maraguinot 24 in the win over UP.

But Arellano is out to stop the duo and the rest of the squad with coach Roberto Javier confident of drawing the best from guest players Mina Aganon and Lilet Mabbayad, skipper Cristine Rosario and mainstays Danna Henson, Menchie Tubiera and Angelica Legacion.

The match is at 3 p.m., after the showdown between UST and UP.

The UST-UP match will be aired live on GMA News TV Channel 11, with the Ateneo-Arellano clash to be aired on Monday, starting at 1 p.m.
