MORE than victory in the V-League, Alyssa Valdez says Ateneo is looking to develop a better game that would help the Lady Eagles retain the crown in the UAAP.

"We are not looking for the win muna siguro," said Valdez, MVP of the UAAP and V-League.

"We are looking for the good performance of the team, the maturity of the team, the experience na we need talaga for the upcoming UAAP season. We are hoping lang for the best. We are happy right now. One step at a time."

Against National University in the V-League Collegiate Conference final, Valdez says they like to think they are the underdogs.

Ateneo has a 10-1 win-loss record but needed three matches to dispose of UST in the semifinals.

NU, on the other hand, swept last year’s champion Far Easter University.

"Underdog po kami. Kami po siguro ang underdog," said the 22-year old Valdez. "We love to think na ganoon kami para we push ourselves pa para mag-improve."

The first match of the best-of-three finals is set on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

"NU sobrang veteran team. Everyone in the team talaga veteran na. We are looking forward to playing with them (and) we are hoping na consistent kami and siguro as of the moment kailangan lang namin i-maintain yung happy, unity and heart strong inside and outside of the court para mas maganda," said Valdez.
