CAGAYAN Valley brought Smart’s winning run to an abrupt end, winning in straight sets on Tuesday in the Shakey's V-League Season 10 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Team captain Angge Tabaquero and three others scored in double digits as the Lady Rising Suns registered a 25-23, 26-24, 25-20, win in a match that took just 84 minutes to finish.

Tabaquero had 15 points, Thai reinforcement Kannika Thipachot added 14, Aiza Maizo contributed 12 and Wenneth Eulalio chipped in 11 for Cagayan Valley.

It was the second straight win for the Lady Rising Suns, while the Net Spikers suffered their first loss after three victories.

"Maganda ang team work nila (players)," said Cagayan coach Nes Pamilar. "Ang bilin ko lang kasi sa kanila hindi tayo pwedeng maglaro ng individual, lahat dapat magtrabaho."

But Pamilar said he did not expect a three-set win over the all-star squad of coach Roger Gorayeb.

"Hindi (ko expected na) three sets, ang instructions ko lang kung ano ang ginagawa sa practice, na pag-focus sa blocks, maaaring maganda ang kalalabasan ng laro," he added.

Although Cagayan had more miscues (22-15), Smart was not able take full advantage.

Maru Banaticla came up with 15 points for Smart.
