V-League, UAAP games cancelled as heavy rain batters metropolis

    Aug 20, 2013

HEAVY rain and flooding brought about by tropical storm Maring forced organizers of the Shakey’s V-League to cancel its scheduled tripleheader for Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Affected games were the Meralco-Air Force tussle,  the Philippine Army-Far Eastern University encounter, and the battle between Cagayan Valley and Philippine Navy.

The playing date on when the three matches will be held has yet to be announced.

The V-League is the latest among several local sports events called off the past two days due to flooding and continuous rainfall.

The NCAA men’s basketball games were also cancelled Monday, and so did the UAAP juniors matches on Tuesday.

UAAP Season 76 secretary-general Ma. Luisa Isip of host Adamson announced as early as Monday night the postponement of the juniors matches at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The games cancelled are Far Eastern University against University of the Philippines Integrated School, University of Santo Tomas opposite Ateneo, University of the East versus National University, and Adamson University against De La Salle Zobel.
