FEU pair Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza stayed unscathed after beating La Salle and UP.

DEFENDING champion University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University disposed respective foes to remain unscathed in the UAAP Season 80 women's beach volleyball tournament.

UST pair Sisi Rondina and Ciatlyn Viray cruised to a 3-0 win-loss card after they defeated Ateneo duo Bea de Leon and Jules Samonte, 22-20, 21-15, on Friday at MOA Sands by the Bay.

Despite the win, Rondina, who partnered with Jem Gutierrez last year, was far from satisfied.

"Kanina sa performance namin sobrang kulang pa, 'di namin alam kung ano ang ginawa namin pero siguro kulang sa mindset (wala kami sa focus)," said the fourth year UST spiker.

"(But) I always think po na kung 'di ko kaya or 'di niya (Viray) kaya, nagdadalahan kami, we got each other's back," she added.

Meanwhile, Rondina and Viray also bested National University duo of Audrey Paran and Roma Doromal, 21-9, 21-8, late Thursday.

In other matches, Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza of FEU denied Tin Tiamzon and May Luna of La Salle 21-23, 21-13, 15-10.
