    Sisi Rondina holds scoring lead over Jaja Santiago after first round in UAAP women's volley

    UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas top hitter Sisi Rondina beat National University stalwart Jaja Santiago in the scoring race at the end of the first round of eliminations in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.

    Rondina has a total of 151 points, from 136 spikes, four blocks and 11 service aces, while Santiago has 141 points, from 111 kills, 20 blocks and 10 service aces.

    University of the Philippines star Diana Carlos came in at No. 3 finished with 135 points (119 spikes, eight blocks and eight service aces), followed by Far Eastern University skipper Bernadeth Pons with 112 points (106 hits, two blocks and four service aces) and Ateneo hitter Jhoana Maraguinot has 107 points (94 kills, six blocks and seven service aces).

    Meanwhile, Santiago defeated Rondina in the spiking department.

    The NU star has a 44.22 success rate, while the UST spiker has 40.60 success rate.

    Maraguinot is at No. 3 (35.07%) followed by UP pair Carlos (32.25%) and Isa Molde (31.91%).

    In the blocking department, Far Eastern University standout Celine Domingo, Adamson middle blocker Mylene Paat and NU stalwart Roselyn Doria are tied at the No. 1 spot with 0.72 average blocks per set.

    Santiago landed at No. 4 with has 0.69 average blocks per set, while reigning MVP Majoy Baron of La Salle is at No. 5 (0.62).

      La Salle tandem Michelle Cobb and Desiree Cheng led the league’s best servers as they both have 0.62 average aces per set.

      FEU’s Toni Basas garnered 0.52 average aces per set, while Paat, Domingo and Haather Guino-o of FEU each have 0.48 aces per set.

      NU playmaker Jasmin Nabor has a slim .01 lead over her Ateneo counterpart Deanna Wong in the best setter race.

      Nabor has 8.38 average excellent sets per set followed by Wong (8.37), Adamson’s Fenela Emnas (8.28), Cobb (7.97) and Alina Bicar of UST (6.15).

      Defense specialists Dawn Macandili of La Salle and Kath Arado of University of the East are in a tight battle in digging and receiving.

      Macandili is No. 1 in digs with 6.79 average digs per set, while Arado is 0.1 behind the lead.

      But Arado topped all players in receive with 52.43 success rate and Macandili has 50.00 success rate.
