UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas head coach Odjie Mamon is mulling to field former Tiger Spiker and UAAP MVP Mark Alfafara to load up for the tough stretch ahead in their Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference campaign.
The Tigers are undefeated after two games but barely escaped with a win over San Beda on Wednesday, which prompted Mamon to consider bringing in his former ward.
“I might call in Mark Alfafara. Kapag binigyan ako ng go ng boss ko, palalaruin ko siya next game,“ Mamon said.
Mamon believes Alfafara, who won the MVP in Season 75, brings a lot to the table to the young Tigers, while also enhancing the team’s chances of making it to the next round..
“Kailangan nila ng leader eh, tsaka kailangan ko ng scorer. Gusto ko makapasok sa next round,” he siad
However, Mamon is not disregarding the contributions of his current squad, who have stepped up their game en route to a 2-0 record.
“Actually ang assigned leader diyan, ‘yung pinakamatanda sa kanila in terms of playing years si Arnold Bautista, but Jomaru Amagan and Timothy Tajanlangit are stepping up,” he concluded.
