UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas coach Kungfu Reyes takes pride in seeing a fiercer Tigresses squad in UAAP Season 80.
Coming off a five-set loss to La Salle in the season-opener, UST bounced back with an easy win over University of the East to the delight of the outspoken mentor.
“Two games, this is a good start for us,” Reyes said.
Kung kaya naming kumalmot, kakalmot at kakalmot kami,” he added.
Reyes, who’s on his third year as head coach of the women’s volleyball team, believes that his team can play at the same level as the league heavyweights.
“Medyo tatalasan lang namin ang claws namin para pag kumalmot kami, hindi makawala,” he said.
“Siguradong papalag at papalag na kami hanggang sa dulo. Ito ay good indication sa good start namin, na kaya naming sumabay.”
UST finished third last year with EJ Laure and Sisi Rondina leading the way. With Laure out injured in Season 80, Rondina has stepped up her game, but Reyes wants all of his players to be invoved.
Sila ang mga go-to players namin, and sila Dimdim (Pacres), hopefully mag-double time sa ensayo, which is 'yun naman ang ginagawa namin,” he said.
UST (1-1) will face skidding Ateneo (0-2) on Sunday.
