KUNGFU Reyes expects University of Santo Tomas to be mentally and physically ready for a vengeful La Salle side when the squads face off for the second time this season in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Tigresses came out on top with a masterful 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 win against the Lady Spikers at the end the first round of eliminations, and Reyes hopes his players play with confidence against a motivated La Salle team when the two sides square off at 3:30 p.m.
“Definitely babawian kami ni La Salle,” he said. “‘Yun na lang ang dalhin nilang attitude, ‘tinalo na natin ‘yan eh tatalunin ulit natin ‘yan.' Kung magiging ganoon ang attitude, hindi kami masyadong mamomroblema.”
“Sana ‘yung huling laro namin nasa isip pa nila na tinalo namin ito, ito ang gagawin namin, ito ang igagalaw namin,” he added.
On the coaching side, the 35-year-old mentor bared he's been covering his bases in preparing a flexible game plan against a determined La Salle team.
After their straight-set win over University of the East last week, Reyes immediately got back to work to prepare for their next assignment.
“Ako naman very optimistic, paghahandaan namin at magco-concentrate kami kung paano maglaro si La Salle at ika-counter namin kung anong pwedeng gawin sa kanya,” he said.
UST currently sits in the sixth spot with an even 4-4 card, while La Salle holds second spot at 6-2.
