Reigning Most Valuable Player Maru Banaticla and Pam Lastimosa of UST improved their record to 3-0, pouncing on the unforced errors of the University of the Philippines pair of Aliyah Ong and Hannah Rebecca Mangulabnan to fashion out a 21-13, 21-18 win.
The Lady Falcons' Shiela Pineda and Amanda Villanueva, on the other hand, recovered from a sluggish start to post a 16-21, 22-20, 15-11 victory over De La Salle's Kim Fajardo and Cienne Cruz to also improve to 3-0.
University of the East and Ateneo are also unbeaten in two starts.
The Lady Warriors' Krysel Cueva and Jessica Paron hacked out a 21-17, 13-21,15-12 win over National University's Mina Aganon and Rizza Mandapat, while Alyssa Valdez and Bea Tan of the Lady Eagles also withstood a tough stand by Far Eastern University's Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza to escape with a 21-9,15-21,15-10 victory. Atienza, a reserve player, replaced Sam Dawson in the second set because of an ankle injury.
The Lady Spikers and the Lady Maroons suffered their second consecutive loss, while the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Tamaraws are at the bottom of the standings with 0-3 cards.
In the men's division, defending champions NU, behind Josephenry Tipay and Edwin Tolentino, continued its domination by whipping De La Salle's Red Christensen and Jopet Movido, 21-17,21-13, for a 3-0 slate.
UST's Mark Alfafara and Kris De Guzman outplayed UE's Milover Parcon and Carlo Almario, 21-18, 21-17, for a 2-0 record.
In other men's matches, FEU's Karl De La Calzada and Alexis Fayteran clobbered Adamson University’s Michael Sudaria and Rence Melgar, 21-18, 21-14, while the UP pair of Jomari Badiong and Jeffrey Lansangan beat Ateneo's Jeriel Apelar and Karl Baysa, 20-22, 21-17, 15-9. The Tamaraws and the Fighting Maroons hiked their records to 2-1.
