UNIVERSITY of the Philippines scored its first win in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, beating Technological Institute of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-9, 25-13, on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.
Skipper Diana Carlos and Isa Molde led the way for UP with a combined 26 points as the Lady Maroons bounced back from a loss to Adamson.
The Lady Maroons tied San Beda College at 1-1 in Group B behind Adamson and Arellano.
UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort reminded the team to focus on the game and not stress over the resignation of head coach Jerry Yee.
“Sinabi namin na kailangan talagang magbago ang mindset. Maliban sa transition sa talo, pero sa pagbago ng system namin since wala na nga si coach. Inaalis lang namin sa utak ng bata yung gulo sa labas,” said Ricafort.
The Lady Maroons scored 35 on attacks against 18 by the Lady Engineers.
UP also had eight blocks against two by TIP and had 10 service aces.
Ashley Jean Jinon scored six points for TIP, winless in two matches.
