FAR Eastern University stayed unscathed after making short work of University of the East, 25-15, 25-16, 25-22, in the UAAP men's volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Tamaraws hardly broke a sweat in routing the listless Red Warriors, who only showed signs of life in the third frame but faltered nonethless.
John Paul Bugaoan had 14 points for the Tamaraws, who tightened their grip on the top spot with an immaculate 5-0 win-loss record.
Richard Solis added 11 markers.
While FEU remains atop with a perfect tally, the Red Warriors are mired in the cellar with a 0-6 card.
Clifford Inoferio and Noel Alba had eight markers each for the Red Warriors, whose head coach Sammy Acaylar resigned a day before the match.
Meanwhile, La Salle scored back-to-back victories after beating Adamson, 25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22.
The Green Spikers looked on their way to sweeping the Falcons, leading 24-21 in the third frame.
But Adamson forced a fourth set as La Salle's Rjay Onia was denied twice before Pao Pablico's hit allowed the Falcons to extend the match, 26-24.
La Salle, though, made sure it won't suffer another meltdown in the fourth frame and finished off their foes with Onia leading the charge.
Onia fired 22 points, all on attacks, including one that put La Salle at match point, 24-22.
