    UAAP beach volley dominance continues as UST teams stay unbeaten

    UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas continued to dominate the UAAP Season 82 Beach Volleyball Tournament as its men’s and women’s teams stayed perfect after three games on Wednesday at the Sands SM By The Bay Wednesday.

    Babylove Barbon and Gen Eslapor resumed their road to ‘four-peat’ with a pair of rousing sweeps over Ateneo and National University.

    Barbon and Eslapor, who seek to keep the beach volleyball dynasty that Sisi Rondina helped build for UST, took down Ateneo's Ponggay Gaston and Roma Mae Doromal, 21-13, 21-11, in the morning before capping the day with a 21-4, 21-8 romp over NU’s Andrea Abian and Chlea dela Fuente.

    Last year’s De La Salle and Far Eastern University also remained unbeaten in three games to join UST on top.

    La Salle’s Tin Tiamzon and Justine Jazareno swept University of the Philippines' Rosie Rosier and Euri Eslapor, 21-19, 21-18, and survived the tough challenge of Adamson University's Kring Uy and Chen Ave, 19-21, 21-18, 15-12.


    Sheena Gallentes and Sheila Mae Kiseo of FEU escaped a pair of deciders beating Adamson, 21-13, 20-22, 15-5 and UP, 21-18, 21-23, 15-12.

    Gaston and Doromal delivered Ateneo’s first win bouncing back with a 23-21, 21-11 victory over University of the East’s Lyen Ritual and Juliet Catindig, who also entered the win-column beating NU, 21-9, 21-17, in the morning.

    Ateneo, Adamson and NU are tied at fourth to sixth places with identical 1-2 win-loss records, while NU and UP remain winless in three matches.

    In men’s action, UST’s Jaron Requinton and Rancel Varga swept Adamson University's Leo Miranda and Jesus Valdez, 21-18, 21-15, for its third straight win.

    Last year's runner-up Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon of FEU also got their third victory in a row edging NU's James Buytrago and James Natividad, 21-19, 19-21, 15-11.

    UP’s Nicolo Consuelo and Louis Gamban kept Ateneo's Abai Llenos and Kurt Aguilar winless in three games, 22-20, 21-18, for an improved 2-1 card at solo third place.

    La Salle’s Vince Maglinao and Ian Jumandos entered the win column beating UE’s Jake Abria and Lloyd Josafat, 21-19, 19-21, 15-5, forcing a four-way tie ?at 1-2 along with their victim, NU and Adamson.
