UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas added foreign flair to its young women’s volleyball squad with Fil-Japanese winger Julia Balingit.

The 5-foot-10 Balingit is capable of playing both outside and opposite hitter roles. She was born in Nagoya, Japan where she also played for Gifu Kyoritsu University in Ogaki.

Her commitment to the Golden Tigresses was apparently secured during the team’s pre-UAAP Season 87 training camp in Japan where formal correspondences with her mother took place.

Balingit would then enroll in UST as a sophomore and may have, at most, three seasons of eligibility, should current UAAP rules stand.

UST, let's go fight

Joining her as fresh faces for Season 88 are former University of the Philippines commit and Bacolod Tay Tung ace Jothea Ramos and New Jersey-born spiker Mishka Fernandez.
