    SEMIS-bound University of Sto. Tomas battles also-ran National University on Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

    Assured at least the No. 3 in the with a 9-4 win-loss record, UST head coach Kungfu Reyes wants a strong finish in their 2 p.m. battle against the rookie-laden NU (4-9).

    A win by UST over NU on Saturday and a loss by La Salle (9-3) to No. 4 Far Eastern University (8-5) on Sunday will forge a playoff for the No. 2 spot and a twice-to-beat advantage.

    “Meron pa kaming opportunity i-showcase ang team namin. Maganda dito every game nagiimprove yung tropa,” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes.

    Focus will again be on graduating Sisi Rondina and rookie Eya Laure as UST faces a young squad featuring Ivy Lacsina, Princess Robles and Jennifer Nierva.

    Meanwhile, UP (6-7) also eyes big win for graduating Ayel Estranero and Marian Buitre as the Lady Maroons face bottom team Adamson Lady Falcons (1-11) at 2 p.m.

    After bowing out of Final Four contention with frustrating three straight losses, the Lady Maroons are just hoping for a solid finish for their graduating players.

    It could also be the last game of Isa Molde and Tots Carlos, who both said they are still uncertain for next season.
