Angge Poyos and Reg Jurado topped the scoring column once more for the Golden Tigresses with 22 (21 attacks) 21 (19 attacks), respectively, with Marga Altea turning in her best game for their fourth win in a row following a defeat to open the women's volleyball tournament.
The black-and-gold raced to a 10-1 start in the first frame before widening the gap to 11 at 15-4 and an eventual 14-point Set 1 win and a hardfought victory in Set 2. Still, the fire burned for the Fighting Maroons who powered through in the third set behind Kianne Olango and Irah Jaboneta.
Come the fourth set, however, UST unleashed a 6-1 blitz to retake control which it never relinquished again.

Altea wound up with nine points, three coming from aces and two from blocks, as Cassie Carballo totaled 21 excellent sets. Detdet Pepito took care of floor defense, as always, with 22 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.
"Kailangan pa po magsipag lalo sa training kasi hindi pa po super satisfied sa performance," said Altea, the former Tiger Cubs skipper and middle blocker who is just in her first year transitioning to the seniors stage with a new position.
State U succumbed to its third loss in a row after a 2-0 start to the season.
Rookie Olango continued to be a bright spot for the struggling squad with 18 points built on 14 attacks, two blocks, and two aces.
