NOTHING new for National U.
The Lady Bulldogs needed four sets this time, but still took down La Salle, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The defending champions strengthened their stranglehold of the league lead at 8-0 - the one and only undefeated team.

MVP frontrunner Bella Belen flexed her red-hot form with 23 points and 17 receptions. She converted nine quick markers in the first set alone.
Vange Alinsug was a point shy of a double-double with 13 digs and nine points, as Alyssa Solomon turned in a stellar 19-piece of her own.

Over on the Taft side of things, another MVP contender in Shevana Laput paced the loss with 19 points, as Angel Canino unleashed 15 points and 21 receptions.
NU standard
Counting their three season-ending wins last year en route to a second UAAP title in three seasons, NU’s unbeaten run has now been stretched to 11.
Belen & Co. also extended their active win streak against the Lady Spikers to three since the second round of prelims play in Season 86.
By completing the elimination series sweep, the two teams' modern-day head-to-head record now stands at 7-5 in favor of National U, dating back to Season 84 when they first contested the UAAP women’s volleyball title.
La Salle’s third loss this season drew them level with Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas at 5-3.
