FOR the nth time, it's green over blue.

La Salle hardly broke a sweat against archrival Ateneo in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 second-round beating in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball on Wednesday at Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Spikers extended their head-to-head win streak over the Blue Eagles to 16 over an eight-year stretch.

Just one game since being rushed to the hospital after a draining five-set win over University of Santo Tomas, Angel Canino was back in high spirits and still at the top of her game with 16 attack points and seven digs.

"Matagal na rin naming hinihintay na lalabas yung mga atake namin kasi lahat kami talaga, alam namin na makaka-attack kami, makakapatay," Canino said.

"On that part, masaya kami na lumalabas na, but at the same time, marami pa rin na kailangan i-improve, but we’re also looking at the positive side na naka-three sets lang po kami."

Ateneo still hasn’t won a UAAP match against La Salle since Game One of the Season 79 finals back in May 2, 2017.

And in terms of the all-time head-to-head rivalry, the Taft towers have now triumphed in 56 of its last 69 matches against their fierce foes from Katipunan.

Another Reyes does damage vs. Ateneo

Mikole Reyes continued to gain a stronger hold of the lead playmaker role with 19 excellent sets for the green-and-white.

And for the younger sister of school icon Mika Reyes, there's more where that strong performance came from.

"Hindi pa naman po nagtatapos doon and hangga't may mga games pa naman po, patuloy pa rin po talaga kami," the younger Reyes said.

"Alam kong may ilalabas pa rin po kasi hindi pa po tapos."

Now with back-to-back wins, the Lady Spikers retained second place at 7-3, as the Blue Eagles dipped to 4-6 for sixth.

Pacing yet another loss to their archrivals was AC Miner's 13 markers and captain Lyann de Guzman's 10-point, 14-reception double-double.
